Don’t forget to go back to the start and pay it forward , you will see just how far you have come .

Sometimes it’s really cathartic to retrace your steps even if it’s such a blur your not sure how you landed , my sons preschool years felt like a snow globe and every time it settled , it felt like someone gave it a shake again until we were blinded going at speed , so much information , so many rushed decisions and all the time being lead by so many unknowns we will forever be thankful for those who guided us , supported us and held us at the times we felt lost but unable to stop .

Oscar attended ABC Preschool in his early years, He also attended the Mary Sheridan Nursery an observation and assessment into within our local hospital .

Something that I will always love about ABC nurseries is that it is an inclusive safe space that works very closely with other professionals that might be involved with children that have additional needs.

During Oscars time ABC he received much nurturing and didn’t seem to met any targets that anybody had set ,simply because his sensory system was so unregulated by his navigation of the world that wasn’t built for him we were trying to put the pieces together, how we could meet Oscars needs.

ABC Nursery created a safe space for Oscar where he was able to explore his sensory needs in a safe place, with caring people and received lots of nurturing.

Nothing was ever out of the question in terms of Oscar’s abilities, his unique needs were Celebrated and he was always seen as an equal and an individual and set achievable targets by his workers at ABC.

This gave Oscar a unique sense of confidence and a new freedom to be himself , he made many friends, It is a very precious part of Oscar‘s journey.

Since Oscar has graduated from nursery he has attended specialist school where he is provided with one-to-one care,Oscars diagnosis is very complex and Oscar is autistic,He also has ADHD. He also suffers from absence seizures also has a very complicated eating disorder named ARFID and a learning disability .

Oscar is also dyspraxic and is unable to hold a pen easily ,one day when I was looking through Oscars drawings and scribbles I found the outline of this little person i was overwhelmed this was drawn by my son!

I asked Oscar who is this ,and he said in a very sweet voice this is Oscar the whole Boy .❤️

The moral of the story is that when Oscar was at ABC nursery, he was treated like a whole person and he felt equal even though his needs marginalised him due to his ability to take part, and the staff ABC always made a conscious effort to make reasonable adjustments ,so that Oscar could take part like everybody else.

We have designed this uniform for ABC to symbolise its unique print in one whole boys journey.

Even hard journeys are worth revisiting , you won’t realise how far you have come until you land and look back , and realise just how special that moment in time was .
